I have been serving Huntley since 2011, starting on the Planning Commission, then elected to the Village Board in 2013 and have been a resident since 2005.
We have done well to this point. Downtown revitalization helped shape the streetscape and the businesses are thriving. I have always focused on businesses including the ones that reinvest in Huntley for a second location. With the I90 and RT47 interchange, our future will only grow and I wish to continue working on those projects competitively and with common sense.
For the 7½ years I have served, I have agreed to keep the levy flat. It is important to be fiscally responsible and have a balanced budget during these difficult times. I will continue to grow our community as I have in the previous years.
Everyone knows we need more economic development. It helps offset the tax burden as well as keeps our community moving forward. We have a team dedicated to calling and contacting new businesses in light/medium industrial, hotels and hospitality and larger chain and sit down restaurants. This is a program I have always supported and will continue to support if reelected.
Our personnel is our largest asset. Currently we are at 97% per capita between our officers, maintenance and administration. I have been involved in the decision making of our finance director as well as Chief Porter. Our personnel is our largest asset. Currently we are at 97% per capita between our officers, maintenance and administration. I have been involved in the decision making of our finance director as well as Chief Porter. We had the village manager position vacant for about nine months and I am pleased to announce that we were able to bring Dave Johnson back to the seat. Having Dave back on the team will be a great asset as Huntley continues to grow.
Between new equipment and technology advancements I have always supported our officers. In the coming years we will be issuing body cameras for our officers safety as well as the public's safety. I will also continue to advocate for more education and training to keep our law enforcement apprised of safer, non lethal restraint.
With roughly 130 miles of roads in Huntley to maintain, this is our second largest asset that requires continuous maintenance. Between resurfacing and snow removal, maintaining our infrastructure is vital. With roughly 130 miles of roads in Huntley to maintain, this is our second largest asset that requires continuous maintenance. Between resurfacing and snow removal, maintaining our infrastructure is vital. Through the years serving, I have been an advocate for keeping our records updated through our GIS (Geographic Information System) system when we repair or discover obstacles underground it is recorded for future reference.
Huntley has several wetlands and retention ponds throughout the village. I have been a strong advocate to keeping them maintained and safe for the environment. Controlled burns and pond irrigation must continue to efficiently recharge our ground water supply to drinking water.
Our comprehensive plan is the guide that provides staff direction and goals to meet. Our current plan will expire shortly and an updated comprehensive plan will be implemented. I would like to be a part of the new plan adding vision and technology and move us to a full paperless permit process for all over the counter permits.
After many years being stagnant, we have finally seen movement in new development. Between the approval of the final phases in Talamore, to the current review to finish Cider Grove, I am eager to finally see these subdivisions completed. But our inventory remains low and I would advocate for new development without bonding the infrastructure.
I know we have all heard train for many years and up until October of 2020 the only discussion had been Amtrak. Now Metra has their eyes on Huntley as a stop. If Metra commits, I will welcome the project and seek your input for its final location.
No natural resource is more important than our water. As Trustee we need to ensure that our water system remains clean and secure. Huntley eventually will need another well near the I90 and RT47 interchange and given the opportunity, I would advocate to go deeper in the aquifer, to ensure an adequate supply for our future generations.
